Как избежать конфликтов между отчимом (38 лет) и сыном (11 лет) и что мне делать в таком случае?

The author describes a conflict between her 11-year-old son and her partner. The situation escalated after her son started secondary school, when his behavior changed: he began arguing more often and showing aggression. The conflict reached a peak when the partner used physical violence (hitting with a belt) in response to the son refusing to go to school, after which the son responded with threats. The author feels torn, unsure how to support both sides.
