Gestalt therapy for me is a psychological direction, which, as a type of help, is as suitable as possible for a modern person.
After all, we often do not realize our true needs, our feelings, we are afraid to be real. A Gestalt therapist psychologist, during a conversation with a client, helps to RECOGNIZE important unfinished moments for a person. Various exercises are not excluded in the work.
Case from practice:
Me: Are you saying that your husband treated you very badly?
Client : Yes, he didn’t pay attention to me, lived his own life, then found himself another woman.
Me: Did you want him to pay more attention to you?
Client (clenches his fists): Yes, he always didn’t care about me.
Me: Repeat your movement with your hands, you clench your hands. What are you thinking about now?
Client (clenches his fists even more): I think about my father. He always left the house and did not pay attention to me.
Me: What do you feel ?
Client (stressed): I feel angry at my father and irritated that he is leaving.
Me: What would you like to tell him?
Client (relieved): Dad, don’t go, stay, I need you.
Me: How do you feel now?
Client: I forgive my father, there is no more anger.

I knew and read about the gestalt approach, but I understood what it was only after coming into contact with it in practice. And you know what I understood - it’s very difficult to tell , what it is until you try it for yourself. I can say that this is not a set of techniques (that would be too narrow), but, for me, rather, a certain worldview, if you like, a philosophy that led me to dramatic changes, with they were not always easy to come into contact with, but they have become irreversible and necessary.

It seems to me that the main tool of a psychologist is his personality, and, first of all, this personality must be a living person who can be close to another living person - a client.
For myself, I came up with the following metaphor: when beautiful music flows from a damaged radio receiver and is drowned out by interference, you cannot fully enjoy it, just like our lives, with our unfinished situations, fears and grievances - we cannot enjoy this life as we would like, because the unfinished is a hindrance and “phons” in our life, like a broken radio. And Gestalt therapy is the best thing for me that helps me cope with the unfinished, complete and experience it in the present moment with support and live human contact with the therapist.

I am studying gestalt therapy for the second year, and for me it is a way of life. This is also what I have been looking for for a long time - an effective way of psychological assistance to clients and itself. It is interesting that this is not a specific set of techniques, although this direction today has a serious theoretical basis. This is life itself! With its inherent experiences and feelings, emotions, manifestations. But the difference, probably, is that in life we often unconsciously or consciously, we stop experiencing much of what is currently painful or simply does not find use, developing a familiar (sometimes dysfunctional) way of communicating and interacting with other people.In sessions, a person in a safe space with the live participation of a therapist has the opportunity again to feel these, perhaps forgotten or once forbidden feelings, to live through something that once failed to be completed and now interferes with normal life.Every person who wants to find harmony of thoughts and actions will definitely come to the desired result!

The peculiarity of this therapy is that only a qualified therapist with the necessary knowledge and deep personal study is able to fully help the client. At the same time, it is not at all necessary that the therapist be, say, older than the client!
The main thing is to have the desire to make these changes!

For me, a practicing Gestalt therapist, Gestalt therapy is a practice closer to art than to medicine or science, although modern G.T. is based on a serious theory that is constantly evolving. Why art? Because the therapist does not take the expert position of a doctor, he does not advise or make a diagnosis, he creates together with the client, creates their common reality here and now. It is like a joint journey through unfamiliar terrain, where the therapist is a more experienced traveler, or to a dance together, where the therapist is a more experienced dancer. Why is this necessary? So that the client gets a new experience of being in a relationship. A person is injured only in a relationship, but he also heals, changes, develops only in relationships. Therefore, the therapist offers himself to the client as a close witness of his life. The relationship with the therapist becomes a platform for research, experimentation and living. In them you can experience any difficult feelings, discover problem areas, ineffective ways to organize relationships, and also try to live, act differently. G.T. supports the client’s spontaneity, his freedom of choice, and promotes the development of sensitivity to his needs and the situation. There is a lot of freedom and support for the client in this approach, but the client is as responsible for the therapy process as the therapist. If you want a “magic pill” for problems without effort, don’t come. Gestalt therapy does not anesthetize, but revitalizes. Being alive is difficult and sometimes alarming, but surprisingly interesting:))

Gestalt therapy is my main school. Within the framework of this approach, I underwent training and my personal therapy. Gestalt for me is like a path during which bright you feel every pebble under your feet, every sound and manage to understand your mood and state at the same time. Each session is a deep contact, because the basis of this approach is the actual experience of the moment here and now.
How does it work?
Due to actualization and awareness of feelings in a given specific moment, a person treats himself and his own life with greater interest and greater responsibility, and as a result, the quality of life improves. How to recognize a Gestalt therapist?

When you come to a psychotherapist, it happens It is difficult to understand within the framework of which approach he works if you have not previously been interested in his biography and education. If during the course of therapy you suddenly remember an incident of your bitter childhood resentment, which is remembered to you every time someone says a certain phrase to you, the Gestalt therapist will most likely offer the following: he will put a chair opposite you, ask you to sit on it and imagine yourself in that childhood, will help you relive that very moment of your childhood, and then offer to go back and support the “child sitting on the chair.”

How does gestalt begin?
For me, gestalt is, first of all, a Meeting. We live in captivity of various stereotypes, outdated defensive reactions, behind which it is sometimes difficult to see yourself, let alone others. I like the classic metaphor of the onion, when you get rid of everything superfluous, the unnecessary husks that have accumulated over the years. Even if tears flow at the same time, you cannot help but admire the beauty that you discover inside - a soul that is not afraid to be childish, sincere, bright in some way. This is how the first meeting occurs - with yourself. And having noticed yourself, you begin to see others, with their originality and dissimilarity. You discover and understand the feelings that they awaken in you. The taste of life acquires new , brighter shades. So, while working with a therapist, between two chairs, you get the experience that you then take with you into the Big Life.

Why I love Gestalt therapy when working with clients:
