Ukrainian therapists describe how cognitive-behavioral therapy works.

Cognitive-behavioral Therapy

is based on the principles of learning theory, which suggests that various types of behavior and accompanying signs develop as a result of a person's habitual reaction to external conditions. In other words, in a certain way reacting to external stress , we develop in ourselves a certain model of behavior - a habitual reaction, which is not always correct. And this developed model of behavior in itself can cause symptoms of some disorder. But a habit can not only be developed, but one can also unlearn it. And learn a new one, more correct and useful: how to cope with difficulties without incurring illness, new stress and difficulties.

Maria Fabricheva

Cognitiveness is a person’s ability to perceive himself and the world around him. Thinking itself, which determines human behavior.
How does a person see the world around him? Why does he suffer from misunderstanding? What gives rise to Does he have fear, sadness, anger, fun, joy? When is he happy?
Each person sees the environment in his own way. The same object, seen by different people, can be described differently. For example: two people, looking at a child's ball, they describe its color; one says it is blue, the other says blue. This depends on the information they have accumulated, life experience and does not affect his emotional life. The same event can evoke different emotions in different people. What For some it just brings a smile, for others it can become a real tragedy. A person’s mood and behavior is determined by how he perceives the world around him. Negative thoughts that arise in certain situations poison a person’s life and make him unhappy. Cognitive psychotherapy helps a person learn to deal with such thoughts - an approach that allows a person to recognize and change their erroneous thought processes. Analyzing situations from life, modeling probable, similar, but with a different outcome, learn to apply different thinking in later life.

this type of therapy is quite effective, but only for people who decide to work on themselves in the direction of changing their behavior, and not the behavior of others. Not for lazy people, not for the purpose of " try, and suddenly it will work out." The main goal is to acquire new useful habits, a new system of responding to familiar situations in order to get out of the endless circle of failures, illnesses and uncertainty. By solving the next problem in an unconventional way, you move to a higher level of development.
