I would like to give an example of psychotherapy with one question, demonstrating the capabilities of the method: one day my student asked to consult her, we walked together to the subway, on the way she talked for a long time about how her boss humiliates and insults her, and how it upsets and undermines her self-esteem. At the end she exclaimed: “He said in front of everyone that I was a fool!” I asked: “And you believed it?” After a minute of silence, she smiled and replied: “In my opinion, he was mistaken!” Then we talked for several more minutes about the fact that even very authoritative bosses can make mistakes, that it is not necessary to believe every word spoken by the boss, that in their hearts people speak rash words , which they later regret, etc. But the actual psychotherapy occurred at the moment when the question was asked.
